This is true of all filters. There is no Holy Grail in this game. If there were it would already have been found.
The goal is to find an edge. Something reliable enough that trading it nets you a profit, even with the bad trades. Not sure if this short filter is truly reliable yet, but the performance over the last 6 months or so is sufficiently good for me to give it a whirl. I will most likely take 1-2% gains if offered rather than keep the trade in play until the close of trading. Others may choose to hold these for a few days to try to maximize gains.
I put this one out to the community with the expectation that others might improve upon it, and if so they would share the results as well.

technical analysis alone is never going to be 100% foolproof. there are 3 elements effecting stock price and you guys only look at technicals. 1) fundamental analysis, 2) analyst recommendation of stock and 3) technical analysis. there is a reason why some ETF's continually show up on your filters but dont bounce.

Not really sure what your point is here. I don't disagree that analyst ratings and fundamentals are useful, but over much longer trading timeframes than what is being discussed here. And it was fairly clearly stated by several folks already that there is no foolproof filter (you see - Shill and I can actually agree on something.)
This is a technical analysis website, and while there is some fundamental data you can call up it is most likely out of date and not all that useful in short-term trading anyway. However, no one is preventing you from using these added elements in your own trading if it gives you an edge.

I set 1% profit targets for IART, HWAY, OSK and SBP before the open just to hopefully catch a modest gain.
09:35 - Closed out OSK at 54.59 for a gain of $196 after commissions.
09:39 - Closed out HWAY at 16.63 for a gain of $192 after commissions.
Should have also taken a trade in GTLS which popped up intraday on Friday - now down 2.5%.
Other trades still in play.

Kevin, my point was that sometimes overall market conditions are what is preventing the stocks/etf's from doing what they should do, given their fundamentals. i.e. oil related stocks looked good on friday but they are all down today due to the nature of oll futures. I suppose I just did the opposite of most ppl here. Deep background in business, understand fundamental analysis but am new to technical. I made a fortune on INO and CERS. they were not in one filter.

Damn - missed the NWL order since I was doing something else right at the close.
Closed out IART at $84.63 for a loss of $46 and SBP at $129.003 for a loss of $1. Net gain on the day was $341.

BTW are you implementing any of your other filters at the moment? Pangolin-Z/W or your Z-score system filter or Pair trading?
